Historic Smithville Park

Historic Smithville Park

Historic Smithville Park started over 60 years ago as a one room stage coach stop. Today it has grown to a small community of 60 shops with much to see.

It has an old fashioned award winning inn that hosts over 25 weddings a year. It has four restaurants to chose from, and a bed and breakfast with 27 rooms so you can find something to your liking.

The park consists of small wagon sized roads with  walkways that connect the buildings. The grounds are immaculately kept and well groomed. There are ducks, geese, rabbits, and chickens roaming freely.

The shops consist of homemade crafts, candy, cheese, and house decorations. Many things for the children and family to see and enjoy.

There is a scaled down train that travels around the park. Children and parents alike can ride and get a good look at all the areas.

A Merry-Go-Round for the younger children and games to play.

There is a lake in the park where you can paddle boat. A wooden bridge crosses the lake and gives patrons a way to cross. I usually stop on the bridge and see a turtle or fish swim by.

There is a bed and Breakfast to stay at and make it a complete part of your vacation or weekend get away.

Almost every weekend there are special events held in the park. If you have an interest or passion, you will find something on the schedule that interests you. There are car shows, a firemen’s band, crafting shows, and Mayfast.

My Review

This review of Historic Smithville Park was a pleasure to do. There are plenty of things that interest me and I visit eight or ten times a year.

There are 60 shops that make home made crafts, candy, and jewelry. Many of them are one of a kind that can not be found any place else.

There is a choice of four restaurants to choose from that range from casual eating to fine dining.

With two parking lots parking is rarely a problem. The only time I ever experienced parking issues was during Mayfast. It becomes so crowded that the road gets closed down. There is still plenty of parking but you will have to walk to get to the park. Mayfast is a sight to see.

The animals roaming freely give the City people a new site and experience. It creates a good feeling watching the young follow the mother around.
